- さつまやき【薩摩焼】薩摩で産する陶磁器の総称。 文禄の役の際， 島津義弘が朝鮮から伴った陶工に焼かせたのに始まる。 初期は， 白釉(ハクユウ)・黒釉を施した朝鮮風のものや， 宋胡録写(スンコロクウツシ)を特色としたが， のち錦手(ニシキデ)や金襴手が盛んとなり， 現在では一般にこれを薩摩焼と呼んでいる。
